HISTORY UNDER THREAT
Our aims
The West Toowong Community Association Inc. is a group formed to take actions that protect, maintain and enhance the social, architectural, environmental and visual amenity and character of the area.

The association formed late in 1999 in response to the value residents place on West Toowong's special qualities and to perceived increasing and inappropriate development of the area. We are an incorporated body, as this enables us to be recognised as a legal entity, both for our protection, and so we can more effectively act to further the groups aims.

What we do.
As our aims indicate, the West Toowong Community Association Inc. takes an active role in issues affecting the area. These may impact upon the built (that is, housing, streetscapes and so on), natural (green spaces, creeks, established trees) or social (public transport, pedestrian access, community building) environments. Actions may include lobbying relevant bodies for upgraded services or amenities, drafting and writing objections to development applications, providing or facilitating legal or other advice, liaising with other community groups in surrounding suburbs and further afield, petitioning Council, working to rehabilitate the natural environment, or recording the area's history.

Meetings
The Association meets bi-monthly, as does our history group. Dates and times are advertised in our newsletters and on our web site. Creek rehabilitation days are the first Sunday of every month, at the Exmouth Street park. Members receive a regular newsletter, covering any meetings held, actions taken or planned, and issues arising. Members can receive the newsletter electronically or via the letterbox. Our web site has feedback facilities and links to other community organisations around the city, state and country: www.toowongwest.org.au

Please do not hesitate to contact the Association to inform us of any matters of concern in the area. If you need help with a community concern, want information or membership forms, please telephone Susan Leggett (Secretary, 3870 3927) or Morag Wilson ( 3870 0612) business hours only, please.
