The Tramway Terminus, Woodstock Street, Toowong. 1907

Letter accompanying photo:

Herewith copies of a postcard sent to my father by his cousin 19/12/07.

I lived at Toowong in the tram era (my time 1927-1956) and spent one uni vacation working at the tramway workshops.

It was a sad day when the trams were taken out of service after I'd moved away.

My dad was managing "Calton Hills" cattle station and his cousin May was at "Mallow" which was her family home.

The Mallow property was owned by her father Robert Philp who gave the land for BBC and she left "Mallow" to BBC when she died. You will know that the old Philp home has since burnt down and BBC has a new building there.

I note that the postcard was produced by MCarver and Co, Toowong. I believe that I recall them as the Toowong draper.
