Vera Street, Toowong, Brisbane. Taken 27 May 1927. 27
May 1927 - Vera Street (photo with Mum, Blinky and Mum's Uncle Johnny
Summers). Our house was built in 1924-25, with champher boards on the
outside. In those days the houses with champher boards were painted with
creosote ,while the houses with weather boards were sump oiled. Vera street
was gravel and as far as I know there was only one car in the street ,
and that belonged to mum's Dad he was a painter and signwriter and had
a whippet ute. Most people either used trams,Bourke's Bus Service or rode
a bike. Two houses down was a vacant lot with a big open drain ( where
22 is now ) where horses used to graze .The milkman and baker had horses.
